I review all the latest and greatest TVs every year, and I know how expensive top models can be. That's why I'm so impressed by the discounts on offer during Amazon Prime Day. We're on the final day of the event, but there are still incredible savings to be had. The best Prime Day TV deals include all-time low prices on some of the most impressive OLED and QLED displays I've tested from LG, Samsung, Sony, and TCL.
If you're only going to focus on one TV deal, my highest recommendation goes to the Samsung S90D OLED. The 65-inch model is more than $500 off, and the 77-inch model is $700 off, bringing them down to the lowest they've ever been. The S90D is a 2024 model, but it's still my top pick for the best TV overall. Stock is getting harder to find, so this is one of the best opportunities to grab it while you still can. Entry-level displays are also getting big savings, including an excellent deal on the TCL QM6K QLED. If you're on a budget, the QM6K is the best value I've seen on Prime Day.
Prime Day TV deals are expected to stay active until midnight, but popular models have been selling out. If you see a discount you like, I recommend snagging it before it's gone. Best Prime Day TV deals: 55 inches and under
Prime Day is a great time to pick up a smaller TV for cheap. Some of my top picks are on sale, including Amazon's 50-inch Omni QLED, which is down to a new all-time low of just $315. The Omni QLED is the best 50-inch TV on a budget thanks to its use of quantum dots and local dimming, which are harder to find on smaller TVs. You can learn more in our full Omni QLED review.
Though we think the larger versions of Amazon's Omni QLED TV are overpriced for what you get, the 50-inch model offers an excellent balance between cost and performance. It has handy Alexa features and is one of the only 50-inch TVs available with local dimming, which enables solid contrast performance.
- One of the few 50-inch QLED models with local dimming
- Lots of Alexa smart features, including hands-free voice control
- VRR and ALLM gaming capabilities
- Narrow viewing angles
- Mediocre upscaling
- Panel limited to 60Hz rather than 120Hz
The QN90D is one of Samsung's flagship QLED displays. It's one of the only 4K Mini LED TVs available in a 50-inch size. Mini LEDs help the TV achieve high brightness and contrast, with image quality that's a clear step above cheaper QLEDs.
The 50-inch Vizio MQX is a budget-friendly QLED built with gaming in mind. It has a higher refresh rate than most competing sets this size, which can offer smoother gameplay when paired with a PS5, Xbox Series X, or PC.
This package includes the 2024 version of Samsung's Frame TV bundled with a teak bezel. This edition offers some minor improvements in color, but the slightly cheaper 2022 model is still a good value as well.
TCL's QM6K is the brand's new entry-level Mini LED model. It offers great performance for its class, making it one of the best values out there for people who want a budget TV that doesn't sacrifice image quality.
The 2-Series uses Amazon's Fire TV interface for easy streaming access. With an HD screen rather than 4K panel, this display is meant for casual viewers who want a basic smart TV in a smaller size.
TCL's S5 LED display doesn't use quantum dots like the brand's pricier QLED TVs, but it's still capable of wide color support and it uses the Amazon Fire TV OS for easy integration with Alexa.
LG's C4 is one of the brand's top midrange 4K OLED TVs. The 48-inch model isn't quite as bright as its larger counterparts, but it still delivers an infinite contrast ratio. It also supports up to a 144Hz refresh rate, which makes it an excellent gaming set.
The Z85A is an excellent midrange OLED TV from Panasonic. It's a bit dimmer than pricier models, but it still has pixel-perfect contrast and wide viewing angles.
Best Prime Day TV deals: 65 inches
Amazon's Prime Day sale is loaded with savings on 65-inch TVs, including some of my favorite models. In particular, the Samsung S90D is a great buy at $500 off. The S90D is the best 65-inch TV overall since it manages to balance excellent contrast and color performance. However, if you want the absolute best image quality I've seen, I recommend LG's high-end G5 OLED, which can get substantially brighter. The G5 is a brand-new model for 2025, and it's getting its first big discount for Prime Day with $490 off. You can learn more in our LG G5 TV review.
The S90D is our favorite TV overall. Its QD-OLED panel delivers a high-contrast image with vivid colors, wide viewing angles, and impressive brightness for this class.
- Excellent peak brightness for a midrange OLED
- High color volume with quantum dot technology
- Wide viewing angles so picture doesn't degrade when sitting off center
- Smart TV interface is OK but not the best
- Issue with update notifications
- Dolby Vision isn't supported
Roku's flagship Pro Series TV is a great all-around 4K QLED. Though similarly priced TCL and Hisense models have an edge in image quality, Roku's intuitive smart TV interface, handy backlit voice remote, and easy assembly make the Pro Series a worthy competitor.
The S5 is one of TCL's upper entry-level TVs, so its contrast and brightness capabilities are limited. But it's still able to produce a wide range of colors and it has Amazon's Fire TV interface with Alexa built-in.
The G5 is LG's flagship OLED TV for 2025. It's one of the brightest OLED TVs we've ever seen, delivering high-end image quality and an elegant design that can hang flush on your wall.
The C4 is LG's midrange 4K OLED TV from 2024. It delivers excellent contrast and black levels, along with solid HDR brightness. Though a newer C5 model is available, the C4 is a better value for most needs.
The QM6K is an excellent entry-level Mini LED TV with solid contrast, vibrant colors, and decent black levels. However, its HDR brightness capabilities are limited compared to step-up models.
The Bravia 8 II is Sony's flagship OLED display for 2025. It's pricey but delivers some of the best image performance on the market.
The QM8K is the best QLED TCL has ever produced. New backlight improvements significantly limit unwanted blooming, the TV gets exceptionally bright, and viewing angles are wider than last year's model.
If you're looking for a more affordable alternative to Samsung's Frame TV, Hisense's Canvas is a solid option. It has a similar matte screen, slim mount, and interchangeable bezel system, but costs less. That said, overall image quality isn't as good.
Best Prime Day TV deals: 75 and 85 inches
Brands are continuing to expand their lineup of extra-large TVs, and these models tend to get particularly big deals during Prime Day. Right now, I'm seeing the 75-inch Roku Plus Series for an excellent deal price of $648. The Plus Series is my pick for the best 75-inch TV on a budget. I also highly recommend snagging TCL's 85-inch QM7 QLED TV while it's still available for just $1,240. This is a 2024 model, but it's a better value than similar 2025 TVs, and inventory is getting harder to find. You can learn more in our guide to the best 85-inch TVs.
The 85-inch TCL QM7 is one of the best extra-large TV values on the market. It delivers great contrast, high brightness, and 144Hz gaming capabilities for less than most competitors.
- Excellent brightness for a midrange display
- Mini LED local dimming enables high contrast
- Smooth gaming with up to a 144Hz refresh rate
- Quick smart TV navigation
- Some light bleed and black level imperfections
- Intermittent stuttering in some streaming videos
- Minor OS glitches
- Narrow viewing angles
The Plus Series is Roku's entry-level QLED TV model. It has quantum dots and local dimming to offer good contrast, brightness, and color performance for the money. The display also uses our favorite smart TV system and comes with a convenient rechargeable remote.
The 77-inch S90D is a fantastic extra-large TV. Its QD-OLED screen delivers an infinite contrast ratio and bright colors, offering some of the best image quality you can get at this price range.
The Bravia 9 is Sony's flagship 4K QLED TV, and it delivers a nearly reference-quality image. It has one of the brightest images on the market and offers the best black-level control we've seen on a QLED.
Samsung's high-end S95D uses a unique matte screen that can nearly eliminate glare and reflections. It's also the brightest OLED we've ever tested. However, the anti-glare design can give black levels a slightly faded look in bright rooms.
The Sony A95L is one of the best 77-inch high-end TVs there is. It's expensive, but the display's QD-OLED screen offers some of the most impressive image performance we've seen. We also love its premium design and convenient Google TV interface.
Hisense's Canvas TV is designed to resemble Samsung's popular Frame TV. It has a matte screen, slim wall mount, and interchangeable bezels (teak included). Although its image quality can't match that of Samsung's models, it offers a very similar design for less money.
Best Prime Day TV deals: 100 inches
As far as I'm concerned, there's no such thing as a TV that's too big. Displays in the 98- and 100-inch class have been booming in popularity over the last couple of years, in large part due to excellent deal prices that make it more affordable than ever to get a massive screen in your living room. TCL's new QM7K is a perfect example. This set is on sale for just under $2,000, which is an amazing price for such a large display with its color, brightness, and contrast capabilities.
TCL's QM6K is the brand's latest entry-level Mini LED model, and it's available in a giant 98-inch size. This set offers solid performance for its class, making it one of the best values out there for people who want a huge screen at a reasonable price.
- Great value for such a big screen size
- Good local dimming performance for this class
- Smooth and reliable Google TV interface
- Can't get as bright as pricier models
- Viewing angles are limited compared to OLED sets
The QM8K is TCL's top QLED TV for 2025. It gets incredibly bright and offers even better local dimming performance than step-down models. This massive model is a great choice for people who want a high-end 98-inch QLED.
The QM7K is TCL's latest midrange QLED TV model with a Mini LED backlight. This model can get brighter than the cheaper QM6K, offering more impact in contrast and colors. It also has excellent local dimming performance.
TCL's Q65 is one of the most affordable 98-inch TVs on the market. It uses quantum dot tech to provide a wide range of colors, but its contrast ratio is lower than pricier QLED TVs.
FAQs
Are Prime Day TV deals worth it?
Yes, Amazon Prime Day features excellent TV deals that are actually worth taking advantage of. Traditionally, lower TV prices do pop up toward the end of the year during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but Prime Day TV deals are often the best discounts you'll see until November. If you're in the market for a new TV and don't want to wait months until the holiday shopping season, Prime Day is your best bet to snag a great price.
Which TV brands are the best?
For more than a decade, I've covered TVs from every major company, gaining insight into the strengths and weaknesses of certain brands.
For instance, if you're shopping for a high-end TV, I recommend focusing on top QLED and OLED displays from LG, Samsung, Sony, and Panasonic. These brands are the best at delivering premium performance and design.
However, many midrange and entry-level models from those companies tend to be overpriced compared to similar TVs sold by TCL, Hisense, Roku, Vizio, and Amazon. These more value-focused companies offer highly competitive prices while still keeping key picture quality features, like local dimming and wide color support, that pricier brands tend to cut from their mid- and entry-level models.
Meanwhile, if all you're after is a basic, no-frills smart TV for casual viewing, a budget LED display from Toshiba or Insignia should do the job. But keep in mind that those cheap models offer very limited image quality, and their shortcomings are especially noticeable if you watch TV in a dark or extremely bright room.
What's the difference between an OLED, QLED, and LED TV?
If you're buying a new TV, there are three main types to keep in mind: OLED, QLED, and LED. There are subsets of each, and some brands use slightly different terms, but those three are the most common.
TVs branded as LED are the most budget-friendly of the three. An LED TV uses an LCD (liquid crystal display) panel with an LED (light-emitting diode) backlight. This type of TV is ideal for casual viewers who don't care about advanced image performance. Entry-level LED TVs have limited brightness, poor black levels, and low contrast performance. This makes it hard for them to overcome glare in bright rooms, and causes dark scenes to look washed out when you watch TV with the lights off.
A QLED TV can be thought of as an upgraded LED TV since the underlying screen technologies are the same. But QLED TVs incorporate a film of quantum dots into their panels (that's what the "Q" in QLED stands for). This feature allows a QLED to produce a wider and brighter color gamut. Some QLED models go a step further and add another feature called local dimming. This enables a QLED to brighten or dim specific zones across its panel to produce better contrast and deeper black levels. Some QLEDs with local dimming are marketed as Mini LED TVs, since their backlights use smaller LEDs than a typical QLED, which helps improve contrast even more.
Finally, there are OLED TVs, which use a completely different panel technology than LED, QLED, or Mini LED TVs. OLED stands for organic light-emitting diode, and this type of screen doesn't need any backlight since each pixel is able to emit light on its own. This allows for an infinite contrast ratio with true black levels. As a result, OLED TVs offer the best image quality on the market. That said, cheaper OLEDs are dimmer than similarly priced QLEDs, so they're not the best fit for especially bright rooms.
